Max Weiler was born 1910 in Absam near Hall in Tirol (Austria) and died 2001 in Vienna. He is known as one of the most important representative of Austrian art of his generation. Its art works are an independent contribution to the international Modern Art. Essential in his art production is the observation of the nature. The art historian Gottfried Böhm recognizes “the spiritual in the nature” as a formula and center in the oeuvre of Max Weiler: “The pictures of Weiler are about the sovereign power of the nature, in a sensual and artistic manner.”
The exhibition at the City Museum Bruneck/Brunico shows a huge overview of the artist oeuvre after 1945. Amongst others his central cycles “When all things…” (1960/61), “Like a landscape” (1961 – 1967) and “Landscapes on sonorous grounds” (1969 – 1973). The exhibition shows with several paintings, drawings and graphic arts Max Weilers huge and multifaceted artworks from 1948 until the 1990ies.
