The Brunico City Museum presents a personal exhibition of the artist Jörg Hofer who was born and raised at Val Venosta. He is one of the most recognized internationally southtyrolian artists. He was introduced in many solo and group exhibitions and in 2014 he was awarded with the honorary title “professor” in Austria.

Born in Laas in 1953 he arranges mostly large-sized and abstract paintings, which are nearly plastic. Jörg Hofer utilizes the finest marbled sand as the picture surface. With the help of simple aids, he forms the surface in a way that it leaves cracks, marks and depositions on it. He gets the marbled sand from the famous Lasa marble quarry, and he mixes the colors together with naturally pigments, egg yolk, linseed oil and water. He then applies a numerous layers out of the nature colours on the image carrier. In this way, he creates paintings in which the nature will not only be integrated in its creations, but they also approximate the nature itself.
