Beginning in England and the USA during the fifties and sixties, artists discover the modern style of living and make the daily and common life to a topic of art. Popular picture motifs, like flags, common objects or everyday occurrences as well as consumer products now get illustrated with an ironic and playful point of view. But the bright and colorful façade often hides deep critics on the modern and consumption oriented society. Other popular subjects are portraits of famous persons, celebrities and Hollywood stars as well as comic and cartoon motives. In Italy the examination with this type of art is much more critically so that a multitude of various positions arise.

The exhibition at the City Museum Bruneck/Brunico shows a selection of paintings, objects, photographs, drawings and advertising graphics from the CSAC (Centro Studi Archivio della Comunicazione) collection of the University of Parma.
