The drawing pencil as pointer at good and evil, at the paradox or contradictory in everyday life, at the phoney pride, feigned bourgeois sensibilities and disguised greed.  The index finger points at the society’s plainful area, at its weak point, itsubjects powerful men to public disgrace. Caricaturists are finger-pointers, as well as denunciators.

The exhibition „FingerPointing“ shows 111 graphic sheets of critical-satirical art from 150 years. In the battle against politicians, speculators and twisters of the law you will find caricatures by Honoré Daumier, Wilhelm Schulz, Erich Schilling, Th. Th. Heine and George Grosz. What is more, spectators will be confronted with critical snapshots of South Tyrol’s political history since 1919 by Eduard Thöny, Paul Flora and IRONIMUS Gustav Peichl.

Drawings by Mathilde Ade, Eberhard von Kleydorff, Alfred Kubin and Leo Putz are focused on the “woman” as object of projection of fear, love and mockery; there are also presented anticlerical works by J.B. Engl and art-critical by Lyonel Feininger, Fritz von Herzmanovsky-Orland, Th. Th. Heine and Brynolf Wennerberg.
